I started back to school today for the spring semester. The team and I are ready to get back into preparation mode so that we will be ready for the obstacles that come our way. If some of you haven't heard I am the Rodeo Coach at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. The program was started four years ago under the New Mexico Governor's Executive Order. I started coaching the team in August 2008. Having this postion has been a blessing for me on so many levels. The athletes that I have the pleasure to mentor have been great at developing me into a more knowledable person. That is probably because as we know college kids, they will try anything. I have not lost my humor.
I myself also started my rodeo career back after this past year off. I had to regroup from a shoulder injury that happened in May 2008. Working with the kids this past year has grounded me and brought me back to the basics, both mentally and fundamentally.
I went to the Denver qualifier on January 6, 2010 and competed in the Tie Down Roping. Josh let me borrow his good horse Cody, and it was fun. Cody is such an impressive animal. I was 9.0 in the first round to place 5th, was 8.9 in the second round to tie for 8th and finished up 4th in the average. The best part about being back in the rodeo scene was seeing all my friends.
My little cousin Chadron went to your roping clinic in Craig the beginning of December. You made such a wonderful impression on him, that is all he can talk about. You made his day when you let him ride your horse. I think it is so awesome how you are working with these little kids and being such a great role model for them. Too bad more athletes can see how they impact kids.

- Thank you for the comment. I had a lot of fun up in Craig and I am looking forward to every year.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season!
Josh- your a class act! I watched you every round at the finals this year and last. You seem very humble and low-key. I just watch the episode on rfdtv with Aaron teaching him how to dog steers, I'm not a dogger but a whinney team roper, I wished you gave team ropin lesson, I would be there in a heartbeat! You did an awesome job the past two years you might not have won the world but I think your a champion! Both doggin and ropin calves! Great rolemodel! Just thought I would let you know your an awesome cowboy! I want my son to grow up to be like JoshPeek! Thanks for the excitement in the finals.Good luck in 10!!
